I liked this book because of setting, story and characters. Although the writing was often a little over-the-top for me, I was still drawn into the story. If history of the Holocaust and Israel's early years interests you, then the love story that this book unfolds will resonate with you. At times I felt silly reading it, but I still wanted to finish it. That to me is the mark of a good book, one I want to finish because I am enjoying it, not one that I am struggling to finish out of a sense of obligation. This is a book that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy.Product details

Encounters of Fate A novel of heartbreak and hope during the Holocaust edition by David Yair Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Iranian born Israeli author David Yair was educated in Kibbutz Matzuba in the Western Galilee, and later in Kibbutz Mishmarot in central Israel. Prior to writing he worked in construction, writing this book as notes jotted down between one battle and the next. On returning from war, he began to shape them into the current work. Initially published as a print book, it recently appeared in digital form, and is now appearing in English. His published books to date are THEY GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR YOU, children’s books THE FLYING FROG TAKES ON THE KIDNAPPERS, THE FLYING FROG AND THE ROBBERS and now he returns to the serious novel again with ENCOUNTERS OF FATE. The figures peopling his narrative are drawn from the Jewish community in the Czech Republic prior to and during the Holocaust, during the 1948 War of Independence, and Israel’s early years. David is a member of the Israel Authors Association.
David’s gift as a storyteller reigns in this collection of memories and constructed incidents, tragedies, love affairs that deal with the tragedies of Israel’s past (and present!). And example of is warmly considered writing follows ‘In my first days, and especially at nights, I used to wander the streets looking for that beautiful woman, and it was during these trips that I fell in love with this country and even more so with its people. The people here are open and hospitable, and always ready to help you. One day, I met a classmate from my days at university. He was a genius; an Iluy, as you say. They said he was set to become a great physicist, but he chose to go to a kibbutz to build the country after the terrible tragedy his people had gone through. Like all the people of the kibbutz, he worked in the dining hall, served food, and cleaned. He pleaded that I leave the hotel and come to visit him there. I met many young people there from Scandinavian countries, who were from well-off families but who volunteered to do any hard work. Quite a few of them stayed on in the country. I was touched by my visit to the kibbutz. I’ve seen the survivors build their country and fight for it. I felt close to your people. I even like your national food, the falafel. I was impressed by your people. I have absorbed the tragedy of the Holocaust; six million Jews who were put to the gas chambers in the crematoria. My mother told me that my father had also had relatives in the countries that Hitler conquered, and none of them survived. I haven’t found the beautiful Yemenite girl from the magazine, but I have met nice and beautiful girls, including Yemenites. But somehow I didn’t fall in love with any of them, and I’m glad I didn’t since my good luck guided me tonight to come to know a blue-eyed stunning beauty, although a little crazy.”

‘Encounters of Fate’ is a novel written by Israeli writer David Yair. In his novel, which is filled with the deepest emotions the author describes us and shows us a love story of two people in the midst of hell.
Some people say that heaven and hell do not exist. Some claim that hell is already on Earth. This second sentence can be considered true for some people and for some nation. The nation of Israel and Jews suffered a lot throughout their history. In this book we can see that even in the midst of endless suffering and death there is hope and there is love. Deep as an ocean, emotional and written in a way that is easy to follow and to read “Encounters of Fate’’ is fantastic work. I give it five stars.
Enjoyed the content and all the history. Hard to follow at times as I felt it was either written in another language and then translated into English or written in English by someone who does not speak it as a first language
Well written story about courageous people and the birth of a new country. The best part of this book is that it is based on real life events. I fell in love with the characters. I shared their sorrows & rejoiced with their triumphs. I wish I could have known them.
I've been reading lesser known Holocaust stories lately and this one was a beautiful love story. The topic is clearly upsetting since it was a true and horrific event and it interests me to imagine what individual victims may have experienced.
This novel was a great romance but also gave insight into the horrors faced by the Jews during the Holocaust and their fight for Israel. This was a story that makes one believe that when two people are destined to be together neither time apart nor circumstance will stop it from happening.
I really really enjoyed this story, thank your you so much for this. I have a passion of reading stories about world was two,and about the terrible times the Jewish people had to endure! Again, thank you,God bless
